Farm Management & Advice

Throughout our long history, we have maintained a ‘customer first’ philosophy recognising that the success of our own business is linked to that of our customers. As such we ensure that we don’t just ‘buy’ and ‘sell’, but help our customers maximise their earning potential by giving solid and sound advice from establishment, through to harvest and marketing.

Planning & Establishment

Whether or not you are growing seed to be processed in one of our plants or growing a commercial crop to be marketed we can support you right from the start.

Our variety and agronomy trials day, which is held annually in June, gives us the opportunity to showcase how the various varieties we recommend have fared throughout the year. Our in-house team also use this opportunity to share their insight into current market trends within our local area.

Our team at Mersham are on-hand throughout the year to advise which varieties and treatments are available and can also discuss our Farm Saved Seed services. We can help to advise and facilitate your preferred rotation whether you wish to drill late to help combat weed problems, grow a variety which will feed into a separate area of your farming business, or work in partnership with neighbouring farms.

In addition, we offer a full range of seed testing services including germination and disease screening.

Growth & Maturity

We have qualified agronomists who can help you with spray timings, pest problems and offer impartial advice should problems have occurred resulting in a failed crop.

Harvest & Timings

Should you require any advice with more specialist crops such as grasses or specialist oil crops, particularly those for seed then we can help with recommendations throughout the year.

Grain Storage

We are experienced in storing grain, having built the first 10,000+ tonne grain store in Kent during the 1980’s. If you are storing grain and/or seed on our behalf, we can help advise on the best methods to maintain quality throughout the year.

Marketing

We are buyers of all combinable crops, with particular emphasis on oats and beans. We work closely with end-users trading both feed and premium samples.
