Thomas’ sons Garnet and Charlie Denne (the second generation) expanded the business during and after World War I by acquiring numerous small mills such as Barham, Chartham, Faversham, Willisborough and Wye, and began supplying animal feed to a much larger area.

The third Generation of Geoffrey, Alan, and David joined the business after World War II and further expanded the business with acquisitions such as Hart and Tatnell in Ashford, Gilletts in Faversham, and a number of small garden seed shops.

This lead to the company diversifying into small seed sales and production, fertiliser distribution, grain trading, and wharfage.

From the early 1960s Denne’s fourth generation, Tony, Christopher, Nigel, and Ian continued to expand the already thriving business with further acquisitions of agricultural businesses such as Hancocks, Jenner and Simpson, Arnolds, and Pattullo Higgs.

In order to adapt to the changing face of farming in the south-east of England, the 1990s saw a period of consolidation as the company withdrew from animal feed, fertiliser, and agrochemicals and prioritised seed production and sales.

Beginning in 2004 the fifth generation of the family, Anna, Andrew, and Fred began their entry into our ranks and are continuing to expand the company into professional advice, and human consumption bean processing and sales, together with multiple levels of seed production facilitated by our new processing facilities at Whitehill.
